Fathers and Brethren,

The Moderator, in accordance with FOG XIV:7 has called for a special meeting of the Presbytery of the Midwest to meet at12:00 p.m. (noon) on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Covenant OPC in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

The meeting is being called at the request of The Rev. Kenneth R. Golden, The Rev. Stephen J. Oharek, The Rev. Rodney T. King, The Rev. Iain A. M. Wright, Ruling Elder John Mazunik (Cedar Falls, IA), Ruling Elder Carl Vander Kooi (Cedar Falls, IA), Ruling Elder Allan Vander Hart (Independence, IA).

The purposes of the meeting will be to consider and act upon:

1. Approve the terms of the call from Reformation OPC (Oviedo, Florida) to Rev. Stephen Oharek.

2. Dissolve the pastoral relationship between Rev. Stephen Oharek and Covenant OPC (Cedar Falls, Iowa) as of a particular date (to be designated at the special meeting), and declare the pulpit there vacant as of the same date.

3. Dismiss Rev. Stephen Oharek to the Presbytery of the South (OPC) as of a convenient date (pending their reception of him).

4. Appoint a ministerial advisor to Covenant OPC (Cedar Falls, Iowa) for any interim period between pastors.

5. Dissolve the pastoral relationship between Rev. Kenneth Golden and New Covenant Fellowship OPC (Independence, Iowa) as of a particular date (to be designated at the special meeting), and declare the pulpit there vacant as of the same date.

6. Appoint a ministerial advisor to New Covenant Fellowship OPC (Independence, Iowa) for any interim period between pastors.

7. Any matters germane.

Grounds for the urgency of calling of Special meeting:

1. Delaying Rev. Oharek’s transition to the field in Oviedo, Florida until after the Fall 2008 Stated Meeting of Presbytery would be burdensome to the congregation in Oviedo which has been without a full time pastor for several months.

2. Rev. Golden has informed his elders of his desire to depart the field in Independence, Iowa prior to the Fall 2008 Stated Meeting of Presbytery.
